MEXICO CITY – President Enrique Peña Nieto highlighted Thursday the main benefits which the 13 structural reforms, which are now in effect, have brought to the country and said that they have enhanced the economic growth of the nation as well as Mexican families.
As part of the expansion of his third government report, and in response to parliamentary questions posed by the various parties in the Senate, Peña Nieto explained the achievements made so far with the education reform, including the implementation of the new mandatory teachers evaluations.
The telecommunications reform, he said, now provides higher quality telecommunication services to users. It also eliminated the additional fees for domestic long-distance calls in January, 2015.
The financial reform has increased credit rates in Mexico, and made them cheaper. The tax reform led to increased tax revenues in 2014 at an annual rate of 11 percent.
Peña Nieto said that the labor reform created more than 1.8 million jobs in the 36 months of his administration.
The president said that the first three Round One tenders have taken place as part of the energy reform, which has reduce electricity tariffs to domestic users by 7.7 percent.
